Creating a Database User in Plesk

Learn how to add a database user in Plesk. Your website uses a database user name and password to connect to its database. Giving each website its own user keeps your websites separate from each other.

Steps

1. Log in to Plesk via your Zeniar Portal
2. Select Databases from the left-hand menu
3. Click User Management
4. Click Add Database User
5. Enter a name in Database user name
6. Click Generate to create a strong password, then click Show and copy the password somewhere safe
7. Under Database, select the database this user can access
8. Under Access control, leave Allow local connections only selected
9. Click OK

Important: Only allow remote connections if you have a specific need for them. Local connections are all a website on your hosting account requires.

Please note: If you are replacing an existing user, update the database user name and password in your website's settings file, or the website will no longer connect to its database.

Your new database user can now connect to the database you selected.
