Checking Whether LiteSpeed Cache Is Working

Learn how to check whether a page is being served from the LiteSpeed cache. The server adds a short note, called a header, to every page it sends from the cache. You can read it with the tools built into your web browser.

Steps

  1. Open your website in a private or incognito window in Chrome or Edge, so that you are not logged in
  2. Press F12 on Windows, or Option + Command + I on a Mac, to open the developer tools
  3. Click the Network tab
  4. Reload the page
  5. Click the first entry in the list, which is the address of the page itself
  6. Under Response Headers, look for a line that starts with x-litespeed-cache
  7. If the value is hit, the page came from the cache. If it is miss, the page was built fresh and has now been saved, so reload once more and it should change to hit

Please note: If there is no x-litespeed-cache line at all, the page is not being cached. Either caching has not been set up for your website, or that page has been left out on purpose.

Note: Pages viewed while you are logged in are often not cached, by design. Always check in a private window.

You now know whether your page is being served from the LiteSpeed cache.
