Downloading a Backup to Your Computer
Learn how to download a backup from Plesk to your computer. Keeping a copy away from your hosting account means you still have your website if the copy on the server is ever lost or removed.
Steps
- Log in to Plesk via your Zeniar Portal
- Select Websites & Domains from the left-hand menu
- Click Backup & Restore under Files & Databases. If you have more than one domain, expand any of them first
- Find the backup you'd like to download in the list
- Click the green arrow at the right-hand end of its row. You can also click the backup's Creation date and then click Download
- If Plesk offers to protect the file with a password, enter a password you will remember
- Save the file to your computer
Important: A backup file contains your website files, databases and email. Store it somewhere safe and do not share it.
Note: To put a downloaded backup back on the server, open Backup & Restore and click Upload. You can then restore it in the usual way.
A copy of your backup is now saved on your computer.
