Creating a Backup of Your Website in Plesk

Learn how to create a backup of your website in Plesk. A backup is a copy of your website files, databases and email that you can restore if something goes wrong. It is a good habit to create one before any major change, such as an update or a redesign.

Steps

  1. Log in to Plesk via your Zeniar Portal
  2. Select Websites & Domains from the left-hand menu
  3. Click Backup & Restore under Files & Databases. If you have more than one domain, expand any of them first
  4. Click Back Up
  5. Under Backup content, leave Configuration, Mail messages, User files and Databases ticked to back up everything
  6. Set Type to Full
  7. In Comments, enter a short description so you can recognise this backup later, for example Before theme update
  8. Click OK
  9. Wait for the backup to appear in the list with a green tick

Please note: A backup covers every domain in your hosting subscription. Backups are stored in your hosting account and count towards your disk space. See Checking Disk Space Usage in Plesk

Note: You may also see entries labelled Scheduled Backup in the list. These are created automatically.

Your website, databases and email are now backed up.
