Scheduling Automatic Backups in Plesk

Scheduling Automatic Backups in Plesk

Learn how to set up a backup schedule in Plesk. A schedule creates backups for you at regular times, so there is always a recent copy of your website to go back to.

Steps

  1. Log in to Plesk via your Zeniar Portal
  2. Select Websites & Domains from the left-hand menu
  3. Click Backup & Restore under Files & Databases. If you have more than one domain, expand any of them first
  4. Click Schedule
  5. Tick Activate this backup task
  6. Next to Run this backup task, choose how often the backup runs and at what time. The time zone is shown on the same line
  7. Tick Use incremental backup and set Perform full backup to Weekly. Incremental backups only store what has changed, which saves disk space
  8. In Maximum number of full backup files to store, enter how many full backups to keep. Older backups are removed automatically
  9. Under Backup settings, leave Configuration, Mail messages, User files and Databases ticked
  10. Enter your email address in the notification field so you are told if a backup fails
  11. Click Save

Please note: Scheduled backups are stored in your hosting account and count towards your disk space. If space is tight, keep fewer full backups. See Checking Disk Space Usage in Plesk

Your website is now backed up automatically on the schedule you chose.
