Setting Up DKIM and DMARC for Your Domain

Learn how to set up DKIM and DMARC for your domain. DKIM adds a digital signature to the emails you send, and DMARC tells other mail servers what to do with email that fails the checks. Together with SPF, they make your email far less likely to be marked as spam or faked by someone else.

Steps

  1. Log in to Plesk via your Zeniar Portal
  2. Select Mail from the left-hand menu
  3. Click the Mail Settings tab, then click your domain name
  4. Tick Use DKIM spam protection system to sign outgoing email messages
  5. Click OK
  6. If your domain uses our nameservers, the DKIM record is added to your DNS for you. If your DNS is managed elsewhere, such as Cloudflare, click How to configure external DNS on the same page and add the records shown there at your DNS provider
  7. Add a DMARC record to your DNS. Create a TXT record with the name _dmarc and the value v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:you@yourdomain.com.au, replacing the address with one of your own. See Managing DNS Records in Plesk

Important: Start with p=none, which only sends you reports. Once you are confident that all of your genuine email passes SPF and DKIM, change it to p=quarantine so that failing email is sent to spam.

Please note: DKIM and DMARC rely on a correct SPF record. See Updating Your SPF Record for Zeniar Email

Email sent from your domain is now signed with DKIM and covered by a DMARC policy.
