Fixing Email That Will Not Send or Receive
Learn how to work out why an email account is not sending or receiving. Work through the steps in order and stop when your email is working again.
Steps
- Log in to Webmail at https://webmail.zeniar.com with the email address and password. If Webmail works, the account is fine and the problem is with the settings on your device
- If you cannot log in to Webmail, reset the password. See Your Email Password in Plesk
- Compare the settings in your email app with the correct ones, paying attention to the server name, ports and your full email address as the username. See Email Server Settings for Zeniar Email
- If you can send but not receive, check whether the mailbox is full. See Changing the Mailbox Size for an Email Account in Plesk
- If nobody can send email to you, check that the MX records for your domain point to our mail server. See Managing DNS Records in Plesk
- If an email you sent comes back, read the returned message. It states the reason, such as a mistyped address or a full mailbox at the other end
- If your emails arrive in the recipient's spam folder, check your SPF, DKIM and DMARC records. See Setting Up DKIM and DMARC for Your Domain
Please note: There is a limit on how many emails each account can send per hour, to protect against spam. Large mail-outs should be sent with a dedicated email marketing service.
Note: If the problem remains, send us the email address affected and the full text of any error or returned message. See Getting Help from Zeniar Support
Your email account should now be sending and receiving.
